Properties of Determinant

Property 1 : If the rows and columns of a determinant are interchanged, the value of the
determinant remains the unchanged.

Property 2 : If two rows (or columns) of a determinant are interchanged, the value of the
determinant is multiplied by  -1 .

Property 3 :  If any two rows (or columns) of a determinant are identical, then the value of
the determinant is zero.

Property 4 : If each element of row (or column) of a determinant is multiplied by constant
'K '  , then its value gets multiplied by  'K' .

Property 5 : If each element of any row (or column) of a determinant is the sum of two
numbers, then the determinant is expressible as the sum of two determinants of the same
order.

Property 6 : If to each elements of a row (or column) of a determinant be added equii
multiples of the corresponding  elements of one or more rows (or columns), then the value
of the determinant is not changed.
